Gabriel KuperI am a Member of Technical Staff in the Database Systems Research Department at Bell Laboratories, a division of Lucent Technologies.
I received my B.Sc. degree in Mathematics from the Technion, Israel, and my Ph.D. degree in Computer Science from Stanford University. I was a researcher at the IBM T.J.Watson Research Center from 1985 until 1992, and at the European Computer-Industry Research Centre (ECRC) in Munich from 1993 to 1996. During 1996, I was a visitor at the Verso Group at INRIA, near Paris, France, and at the Universite libre de Bruxelles in Belgium. I joined Bell Labs in 1997.
My main research interests are in the area of databases, including object-oriented , constraint and deductive databases. My current work is focused on XML databases in particular on typing of such data.
